Evening colors! *RANT*

I don't get it.

OK in the morning, you can blow the time. But at night, you have one job to do.

One guy pushes one button at 1955 and the one next to it at 2000.

One guy lowers the flag ceremoniously.

Everyone else comes to attention and turns toward the Ensign or the speaker at the Bugle, and then salutes when retreat starts.

I've heard them and seen people blow it on Pendelton, all the sub bases, Everet and all over San Diego.

It just isn't that damn hard!!

Except that at some military bases they don't actually bring the flag down - it flies 24/7. Fort Hunter-Liggett comes to mind.

To which I ask myself - why exactly AM I standing at attention if the flag is not going up or down?

Wow, what an idiot, not enough coffee I guess.

What I meant to say is that in the evening you can blow the time and in the morning you have no excuse.

Feel free to crap all over the Chief.
